Rustic Relics Shelf

INSTRUCTIONS:
For best results, please read all instructions before beginning project.  Refer to photo for color and design placement.
  1. Apply Oak stain to inset and shelf.  Wipe thoroughly with a paper towel.
  2. Using 3/4" flat brush, drybrush shelf with Yellow Ochre.  Let dry.  Sand shelf to expose edges.
  3. Using bristle brush, drybrush inset with Hunter Green and Dusty Green.
  4. Base coat as follows:
         (5)  1-1/2" hearts:  Dusty Blue
         (7)  primitive hearts and large oval:  Deep Mauve
         (5)  tulips, large plug and (2) small ovals:  a mixture of half Yellow Ochre and half True Yellow
         (1)  small plug and (1) 5/8" ball:  Burnt Umber
         Let dry.
  5. Sand all pieces.
  6. Antique all pieces with Oak stain.
  7. Paint wavy Black lines for the bee on small ovals.  Using handle end of brush, make Black dots on large oval.
  8. Spatter all pieces with Black.
  9. Using stylus and tracing paper, transfer lettering.  Thin Black with water.  Using 10/0 liner brush, paint lettering.  Using handle end of brush, make dots.  Also make dotted lines.
  10. Glue wood pieces to frame and inset.  Glue pegs in place.  Dip 10/0 liner brush in Hunter Green and paint stems and leaves.
  11. Cut wire and shape wings for bees and antennae for ladybug.  Glue onto frame.
  12. Tie fabric and glue onto each flower.
  13. Assemble frame.  Apply Matte Varnish for a protective finish.
